Half Life 3 or Half Life 2: Episode 3?
Which is it, Half Life 3 or Half Life 2: Episode 3? There seems to be mixed ideas about what the next Half Life game will be. Some believe it will be a full featured game with new weapons, characters, maps, multiplayer mode, and maybe a new or modified game engine. Others believe it will be the final Episode to Half Life 2 that was promised to fans many years ago. Then you have some who use HL 3 as a synonym to the next HL content release, regardless if it’s Episode 3 or a full retail game.
I thought to consider myself to fall in the “I don’t care, I just want to see another Half Life release.” group, but I think I would rather see a complete brand new game. If it hasn’t been so long (years) since Episode 2, I would be pushing more for Episode 3. I bought into Valve’s idea of episodic gaming and welcomed playing new short content. It was an interesting concept and HL 2 was the hot new game with the perfect story in place to pull it off. But here we are, years after HL2 with no signs of a new HL in the pipeline. I think releasing EP 3 would be a slap in the face to us fans. Almost like, throwing us a bone or giving us table scraps to hold us over. It’s a risky move, because if Episode 3 is released and falls short of expectations, it will certainly leave a sour taste in people’s mouth for any future Half Life releases. EP 3 will have immensely high expectations and if it doesn’t deliver what fans expect/want, then how likely are they to purchase a full retail standalone in the form of Half Life 3? I think Valve would be better off skipping Episode 3 and going straight to HL 3.
When you talk about Half Life 3 are you referring to the next full featured stand alone game, or any future release including Episode 3? What do you want to see, Episode 3 or Half Life 3?

I think we will see Episode 3 first to make the transition and finish the HL2 saga and then HL3 will be something completely new.
will be done in half life 3 50 gb blu ray disc, the beginning has to be quite electrifying type 20 minute half life 2 episode 3 final, after that appears the presentation and starting the half life 3 logo, as did half life, a tremendous change for the half life 2 they will do the same for half life 3, 2012 source engine enhacement 3.0 Valve, columbia pictures, vivendi universal, and games, activision infinity ward, warner bros, Dow Jones Market, all isso to be the haha century game of the year

i would like them to release half life 3, but release ep3 as the prologue before the half life 3 story, or release it as a FREE dlc to half life 3,
or release ep3 about a month or so before hl3 as a free game for the owners of hl2 episode pack or the orange box.
but what that will be the best if valve release l4d3, portal 3, half life 3, and half life 2 episode 3 and team fortress 3 as the orange box 2!
To be honest I would want them to release hl3, leaving a big gap between two and three, and then later go back and do ep 3 so you have something that everyone keeps refering too that you wanted to see for so long. Like when I really got into metal gear solid series i started with three, I played the first one when I was younger but never got into into it. Everyone kept mentioning shadow mosses, and it killed me on what happened. So that was it I HAD to replay the first one. Point is I think it would add more of the tease that we’re so used to from valve
Personally, this is how i feel about this, and i hope this is how Valve has planned to pull this off.
I feel that they should release Episode Three, considering that Valve mentioned that the Episodes would be a trilogy. But not just an Episode, a rather long Episode, maybe a bit longer than Episode Two, to make up for this 4 year wait we’ve all had.
And then release Half-Life 3 to conclude & end the epic Half-Life series.
It’d be perfect. Continue this amazing story & journey with Episode Three, then come in stronger than ever with Half-Life 3 to conclude this legendary story.
Money is the only one who’s right. Why would anyone even say skip episode 3 and go to half life 3? That wouldn’t make sense cuz there are 3 episodes in all.
The logical solution would be for half life episode 3 to come out as an introduction back to half life, and to welcome the new source /w HL3. Right?
That sounds like their style too. I doubt they are only gonna make episode 3 alone, with a new source code, if they at least aren’t going to quickly follow with half life 3.

I’m feeling the HL3 name and hoping they use a new graphics engine, using the old one would be under utilizing today’s GPU technology. i would also like to see some iron sight aiming and more realistic ballistics when shooting humans & non-humans. So far as the story goes I trust Valve, they always write something that suck’s me into the world of half-life.
Bah! HL with ironsigh aiming? BEH, It would be HL no more. I’m not a fan of ironsight aimaing anyway.
I don’t really care which way they go. But if they don’t put something out soon, I’m going to stop caring about the franchise at all. Right now they still – if only barely – still have me hooked. But I’ve been off the drug so long I really am starting to feel I can live without it.

i think half life three might be better as i dont want to have waited years just for a short episode game, but a whole new standalone game
i think half life 3 would be better. just continue the storyline but in a full game. i do not want to wait for 5 years and get EP3, that would suck and it will kill half life franchise, i say they should go for half life 3
